New Delhi : Hundreds of students, young professionals, parents and supporters of the emerging Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) gathered at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in examinations, paper leaks and concerns regarding accountability in the education system.
The protest marked the first major street demonstration by the CJP, a youth-driven movement that has gained significant traction on social media in recent weeks. Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, the movement has attracted millions of followers, particularly among students frustrated by recurring controversies surrounding competitive examinations and recruitment processes.
Protesters carrying the national flag, books and placards assembled at Jantar Mantar after receiving permission from Delhi Police. Many participants wore symbolic cockroach masks, turning a term perceived as derogatory into a symbol of resilience and resistance. Organisers repeatedly urged demonstrators to maintain peace and discipline throughout the event.

Addressing the gathering, Dipke accused the government of failing to adequately address issues such as examination paper leaks, result discrepancies and challenges faced by students seeking educational and employment opportunities. The movement has called for greater transparency and accountability in the education sector and warned of expanding protests if its demands remain unaddressed.
Prominent education reform advocate Sonam Wangchuk also joined the demonstration, expressing solidarity with students and urging authorities to address concerns related to the education system. Several student organisations and civil society groups were present at the protest.
Heavy security arrangements were deployed across central Delhi, with police maintaining a strong presence to ensure law and order. Despite tensions and political criticism surrounding the movement, the demonstration concluded peacefully.
The protest highlights growing youth discontent over education governance, employment prospects and institutional accountability, issues that are increasingly shaping public discourse and political engagement among India’s younger generation.
