MCG launches dedicated 24×7 helpline for waterlogging complaints during monsoon

Gurugram: In a bid to provide quick assistance to residents facing waterlogging issues during the monsoon season, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has launched a dedicated 24×7 helpline number — 9821395354. Citizens can report waterlogging-related problems through phone calls as well as WhatsApp messages, enabling authorities to respond more efficiently and ensure timely resolution.

The initiative is being managed through MCG’s Monsoon Management Cell (MMC), which remains operational round the clock throughout the week. The cell continuously monitors rainfall and waterlogging situations across the city through complaints received from residents, reports from field teams, and live feeds from CCTV cameras installed at key locations.

According to MCG officials, every complaint received on the helpline is immediately forwarded to the concerned field team deployed in the affected area. The teams are equipped with the necessary machinery, engineering staff, and resources to respond promptly and undertake dewatering and other corrective measures.

Residents can also use WhatsApp to share the exact location of the waterlogged site along with a brief description of the problem. Officials said that accurate location details help field teams reach the spot faster and take immediate action.

The Monsoon Management Cell is not relying solely on public complaints. Through real-time CCTV monitoring, the control room keeps a close watch on vulnerable and waterlogging-prone locations across Gurugram. As soon as rainfall begins, the control room staff shifts into alert mode and coordinates with field teams whenever signs of water accumulation are detected or reports are received from the ground.

To review preparedness and response mechanisms, MCG Additional Commissioner Ankita Choudhary visited the Monsoon Management Cell call centre. During the inspection, she reviewed the complaint-handling process, from receiving information to relaying it to field teams and monitoring subsequent action. She directed officials to treat every waterlogging complaint with utmost seriousness and ensure immediate coordination with field staff.

Choudhary also emphasized maintaining regular updates on actions taken so that the grievance redressal process remains transparent, effective, and accountable. The dedicated helpline is expected to strengthen MCG’s monsoon response system and provide faster relief to residents affected by waterlogging across Gurugram.
