India’s tallest skyscraper proposed in Gurugram’s global city, Set to transform NCR skyline

Gurugram: India could soon be home to one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers as a massive mixed-use tower, proposed under Haryana Government’s ambitious Global City project, takes shape in Gurugram. Planned to rise between 620 and 700 metres, the structure would become the tallest building in India if completed, significantly surpassing all existing high-rises in the country.

The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), the nodal agency developing the Global City project, has reportedly earmarked 6.7 acres of land for the iconic tower.

The proposed development is expected to include commercial office spaces, luxury hotels, retail outlets, and residential units, making it a landmark mixed-use destination.

Spread across nearly 1,000 acres near the Dwarka Expressway, the Global City project is among Haryana’s flagship urban development initiatives. Conceived as an integrated business, commercial, residential, and institutional hub, the project aims to attract multinational corporations, financial institutions, technology firms, and global investors.

According to industry stakeholders, the proposed tower is envisioned as more than just a record-breaking structure. It is expected to serve as a symbol of Gurugram’s emergence as a global business and innovation hub. Enhanced connectivity, modern infrastructure, and world-class urban planning are expected to position the city among leading international investment destinations.

“Global City is envisioned as more than a real estate development. The proposed tower aims to position Gurugram as a global hub for business, innovation and investment, while creating an integrated urban ecosystem with world-class infrastructure and connectivity,” Sudeep Bhatt, Director-Strategy, Whiteland Corporation.

Sources indicate that the Haryana Government has held extensive consultations over the past few years with major real estate developers from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to assess market demand, technical feasibility, and global benchmarks for such a landmark project.

Authorities have also evaluated the infrastructure requirements needed to support an internationally competitive urban district.

If the tower reaches its proposed height, it would eclipse Mumbai’s Palace Royale, currently India’s tallest building at approximately 320 metres. It would also dwarf Cyberthum Tower-A in Noida, the tallest building in Delhi-NCR at 213.7 metres, and Gurugram’s Trump Towers Delhi NCR, which stands at 201.53 metres.

With land auctions and development activities expected to gather pace, the proposed skyscraper could redefine India’s urban skyline and further strengthen Gurugram’s position as the country’s premier business and investment destination.
“The Global City project will further strengthen Gurugram’s identity as a leading business destination. The proposed tower and surrounding urban district are expected to attract global companies, investors and talent, reinforcing the city’s status as a modern and economically strong urban centre,” Pushpender Singh, Managing Director, JMS Group, said.
