Gurugram MP reviews key Gurugram infrastructure projects, pushes for timely completion

Gurugram : Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive review of major infrastructure and urban development projects in Gurugram, directing officials to expedite execution and ensure high-quality construction within stipulated timelines.

Chairing a high-level meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Rao reviewed the progress of several strategic projects, including the Gurugram Metro expansion, Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), Delhi-Bawal Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), Palwal-Sohna-Manesar-Sonipat Orbital Rail Corridor, national highway projects, water supply infrastructure, and stormwater drainage schemes. Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma and senior officials from GMDA, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, and other departments were present.

Officials informed the minister that nearly eight per cent of the Gurugram Metro project has been completed. The Metro corridor connecting Millennium City Centre to Sector 9 is targeted for completion by August 2028. However, land acquisition issues at certain locations remain pending. Rao directed authorities to resolve these matters swiftly to avoid delays.

Reviewing the SPR project, officials said construction from NH-48 to Vatika Chowk is likely to commence in October, while the design of the Vatika Chowk interchange is in its final stage. The project is expected to be completed within 30 months of construction commencement. Rao stressed that the corridor should be treated as a priority project due to its significance in easing traffic congestion.

The minister also expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on the Gurugram-Pataudi-Rewari National Highway project. He instructed officials of the National Highways Authority to focus on construction quality, complete pending flyovers on priority, and improve service roads to facilitate smoother traffic movement.

Emphasising sustainable urban growth, Rao directed officials to strengthen monitoring of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in private residential societies and ensure regular inspections of the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Manesar. He warned of strict action against entities violating environmental norms.

On water management, the minister called for a long-term strategy keeping in view Gurugram’s projected population growth till 2051, stressing that future infrastructure planning must address the city’s increasing demand for water and essential urban services.
