Gurugram gears up for monsoon: Senior officials to hit field, Digital monitoring made mandatory

Gurugram: In a proactive push ahead of the monsoon season, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has intensified its preparedness, with Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya taking a firm stand on accountability and ground-level execution. Senior officials will now conduct on-site inspections across the city, ensuring that all works related to drainage and sanitation are completed efficiently.

To enhance transparency and real-time monitoring, the use of a dedicated inspection app has been made mandatory. All field inspections will be digitally recorded, enabling better tracking of progress and ensuring no lapses go unnoticed.

The engineering teams are already working at full pace, focusing on cleaning and repairing the city’s sewerage and drainage systems. The aim is to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth water flow during heavy rains. Responsibility for monitoring these works has been assigned to top officials, including Additional Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, the Chief Engineer, and Town Planning authorities.

Commissioner Dahiya emphasized that he will personally review the progress by visiting different locations. He warned that any negligence or delay will not be tolerated, stressing that strict monitoring will lead to effective results.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between officials, councillors, and citizens to strengthen the city’s drainage system and avoid inconvenience during the monsoon.

Focus on Cleanliness & Waste Management

Sanitation remains a top priority, with regular cleaning drives being carried out across Gurugram. Currently, 338 vehicles are deployed for door-to-door waste collection, and the fleet is being further expanded. Sanitation inspectors have been directed to closely monitor collection services in their respective areas.

All garbage vulnerable points are being cleaned regularly, and special drives are underway to make roads dust-free. The Commissioner also made it clear that payments to agencies handling sanitation machinery and vehicles will strictly follow Urban Local Bodies (ULB) guidelines—no payment will be processed without GPS-based verification.

Crackdown on Illegal Dumping

Taking a strict stance against illegal dumping, the Commissioner has directed officials to keep national highways and Faridabad Road free from construction and demolition (C&D) waste. Surveillance by the Sanitation Security Force will be further strengthened.

The Municipal Corporation is already taking continuous action against violators, including vehicle seizures and heavy fines, to ensure strict compliance and maintain cleanliness across the city.
