Gurugram : The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to intensify its ongoing “Stray Cattle-Free Gurugram Campaign” with stricter enforcement measures to rid the city of roaming animals and improve road safety.
The campaign will now be directly led and monitored by Joint Commissioners to ensure faster execution and effective implementation.
During a review meeting held on Monday, Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya directed Joint Commissioners to personally oversee the drive and take firm action against anyone obstructing municipal teams.
He made it clear that FIRs will be registered against individuals who create hurdles in the campaign, and no leniency will be shown. To ensure smooth operations, police personnel will also be deployed along with cattle-catching teams.
Officials informed the Commissioner that over the past one-and-a-half months, a total of 393 stray animals have been captured. These include 186 cows, 189 bulls, and nine calves. All the animals have been safely shifted to designated gaushalas and nandi shalas.
The Commissioner instructed officials to continue the drive on a regular basis, with special focus on main roads, residential sectors, and busy intersections to prevent road accidents and traffic disruptions caused by stray cattle.
The meeting also reviewed the city’s sanitation and cleanliness measures. Officials reported that MCG teams are conducting regular cleanliness drives and taking action against those dumping garbage and construction debris in open areas. Recently, assistant sanitation inspectors imposed fines totaling ₹49,500 on 92 violators. Additionally, the Sanitation Security Force fined two individuals ₹10,000, seized one vehicle, and took strict action against offenders.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasized that maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized Gurugram is the corporation’s top priority. He said strict action would continue against stray cattle owners and those spreading filth. He also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the civic body, follow rules, and actively contribute to making Gurugram a cleaner and safer city.
