MCG approves Rs 1,918 crore budget for 2026–27, Focus on cleanliness and urban development in Gurugram

Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has unanimously approved its budget for the financial year 2026–27, projecting an income of Rs 1,918 crore and expenditure of Rs 1,875 crore. The budget places strong emphasis on sanitation, infrastructure development, and improving civic services across the city.

The budget session was chaired by Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra and attended by senior officials, councillors, and other concerned authorities.

Chief Accounts Officer Vijay Kumar presented the detailed budget before the House. He highlighted that the corporation expects to generate revenue from multiple sources, including property tax, stamp duty, water and sewerage charges, advertisements, and land compensation.

As per estimates, the MCG anticipates earning Rs 325 crore from property tax, Rs 500 crore from stamp duty, and Rs 80 crore from water and sewerage charges.

Additional revenues include Rs 75 crore from municipal property sales or auctions, Rs 40 crore from the sale of municipal houses and shops, Rs 75 crore from External and Internal Development Charges (EDC/IDC), Rs 150 crore from land compensation, and Rs 120 crore from advertisements. Other minor revenue streams have also been included in the projections.

On the expenditure side, sanitation and waste management have been given top priority, with Rs 400 crore allocated for cleanliness initiatives. Another Rs 250 crore has been earmarked for operation and maintenance activities, while Rs 400 crore will be spent on various development projects aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure.

Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra stated that the budget has been designed to ensure balanced and comprehensive development of the city. She emphasized that improving sanitation, upgrading basic amenities, and enhancing infrastructure remain key focus areas.

MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya assured that all proposed projects and schemes would be implemented in a transparent and efficient manner. He reiterated the corporation’s commitment to transforming Gurugram into a clean, well-organized, and modern urban center, offering improved quality of life to its residents.
