Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has intensified its crackdown on illegal drinking water and sewer connections across the city. As part of this initiative, a special enforcement drive was carried out on Thursday in the Daulatabad Industrial Area and Surat Nagar, where officials identified and disconnected 58 unauthorized connections.
During the inspection, the MCG team conducted a detailed survey of the area to detect illegal connections being used by industrial and commercial units. Following the verification process, officials disconnected one bulk connection serving nearly 50 units along with eight other illegal drinking water and sewer connections.
The enforcement operation was led by Junior Engineer Satyendra Kumar, along with Supervisor Krishna Kumar, plumber Ramashankar and other members of the municipal team. The team carried out an extensive on-site inspection to identify unauthorized pipelines and sewer links.

According to MCG officials, this was not the first time action had been taken in the area. Earlier as well, illegal connections had been disconnected, but some users reportedly reconnected them illegally. During Thursday’s drive, the municipal team rechecked the locations and immediately cut off any connections found to be unauthorized.
Meanwhile, to simplify the process of obtaining legal water and sewer connections, the Municipal Corporation has introduced a user-friendly online module. The new digital system developed by MCG is now available on its official website www.mcg.gov.in, allowing residents to apply for connections from the comfort of their homes.
Under this system, citizens no longer need to visit multiple municipal offices. Applicants can submit requests using their property ID and identity proof such as Aadhaar card or voter ID. The initiative aims to make the process faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly.
MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said that illegal water and sewer connections will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that the corporation will continue conducting regular drives across the city to detect and remove unauthorized connections.
The commissioner also urged residents and businesses to obtain water and sewer connections only through the legal process and make use of the newly introduced online system. He added that strict action will be taken against anyone found illegally tapping into the municipal water supply or sewer network.
