Gurugram: In a significant push to strengthen urban infrastructure, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has initiated three major development projects across different wards of the city.
The projects were formally inaugurated by Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh, who directed officials and construction agencies to complete the works within the stipulated timelines while maintaining high quality standards.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister said Gurugram is a rapidly growing city, and robust infrastructure such as roads, sewerage and urban amenities directly impacts the quality of life of citizens. He stressed that there should be no delays in execution and that regular monitoring must be ensured so that residents get timely benefits.
Under Ward No. 21, road construction work has commenced in Pocket A and B of Sector-52. A total stretch of 3,535 metres will be developed with a 50 mm thick Bituminous Macadam (DBM) layer and a 30 mm thick Bituminous Concrete (BC) layer. The project involves an estimated cost of ₹189.94 lakh and is scheduled to be completed within 10 months. Once completed, it will significantly improve the road network in Sector-52, ensuring smoother and safer movement for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Another major project includes the laying of a 550-metre-long sewer line of 400 mm diameter from Wazirabad Market to Jheel Chowk, along with the construction of a 1,050-metre-long M-40 grade RMC road. With an estimated cost of Rs 264.83 lakh, the project is targeted for completion within 13 months. This initiative is expected to reduce waterlogging issues, improve sanitation, and provide better road facilities to residents of the area.
In Sector-17A, re-carpeting work will be carried out on a 2,320-metre-long road using DBM and BC layers. Additionally, interlocking tiles will be installed along a 1,350-metre stretch. The project, costing Rs 108.91 lakh, is expected to be completed within two months and will help reduce dust, potholes and improve overall road quality and safety.
Meanwhile, to further accelerate development works, MCG has appealed to property owners to clear their outstanding property tax dues by March 31, 2026.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that property tax forms the backbone of city development, funding essential services such as sanitation, street lighting, road maintenance, and upkeep of parks and public spaces. He warned that defaulters will face penal interest from April 1, 2026, and strict action, including sealing and auction of properties, if dues remain unpaid.
These initiatives collectively aim to enhance urban infrastructure, ease daily commuting, and ensure a cleaner, more organized Gurugram.
