Gurugram: Taking a strict stance to ensure accountability in the city’s sanitation system, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has imposed a penalty of over Rs 12 lakh on a private agency engaged in door-to-door waste collection and sanitation services in Zone-5.
According to notices issued by the civic body, KS Multifacility Services, the agency responsible for waste collection and sanitation work in the zone, failed to deploy the prescribed number of vehicles, tractor-trolleys and sanitation workers as mandated under its contract. Based on inspection reports, the corporation has levied a total penalty of Rs 12,00,466, which will be recovered from the agency’s monthly bills.
Major Shortfall in Door-to-Door Waste Collection Vehicles
As per a notice issued by the Joint Commissioner’s office for Zone-5, the agency was required to deploy 76 vehicles daily for door-to-door waste collection. Inspections conducted by Assistant Sanitation Inspectors between July 25 and August 11, 2026, revealed significant deficiencies in vehicle deployment on multiple days.
MCG records showed a cumulative shortfall of 691 vehicle deployments during the inspection period against the prescribed requirement. Consequently, the corporation imposed a penalty of Rs 9,95,040 on the agency for failing to meet contractual obligations.
Action Over Shortage of Tractor-Trolleys and Workforce
In a separate notice, MCG highlighted deficiencies in the deployment of tractor-trolleys and sanitation staff required for maintaining cleanliness across wards in Zone-5.
Inspections carried out between August 1 and August 11, 2026, found that the agency had failed to provide the prescribed manpower and equipment. During the period, 26 tractor-trolleys and 286 sanitation workers were found absent.
The civic body imposed a penalty of Rs 65,000 for the shortage of tractor-trolleys and Rs 1,40,426 for the shortage of sanitation workers, taking the total penalty under this notice to Rs 2,05,426.
Civic Body Warns of Strict Enforcement
MCG Additional Commissioner said agencies engaged in sanitation work are required to maintain the prescribed number of vehicles, equipment and manpower in accordance with the terms of their contracts.
He stated that any deficiencies detected during inspections would invite strict action and penalties as per contractual provisions, adding that the corporation is committed to ensuring efficient waste collection and sanitation services across the city.
