Gurugram : Gurugram Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra chaired a key review meeting of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) focusing on sanitation, monsoon management, drainage improvement, drinking water supply and long-term infrastructure development across the city.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, senior officials and councillors. Discussions centred on strengthening civic services, improving waste collection systems and enhancing urban infrastructure through technology-driven solutions.
A major highlight of the meeting was the upcoming door-to-door waste collection tender, under which around 854 vehicles will be deployed across the city. Officials said the new system will cover the entire waste management chain—from household collection to transportation of waste to processing plants—making the mechanism more organised, accountable and efficient.
Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Commissioner and the civic administration in improving sanitation, water drainage and citizen services.
“Providing better civic amenities to Gurugram residents remains the top priority of the Municipal Corporation. Continuous improvements in sanitation, waste management, drainage, drinking water and infrastructure are essential for a rapidly growing city like Gurugram,” she said.
The meeting also reviewed the city’s monsoon preparedness. Officials informed participants that water drainage had improved in several areas compared to previous years, aided by pond revival projects and rainwater harvesting initiatives.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the corporation was working on strengthening drainage networks, reviving water bodies and expanding rainwater harvesting systems to ensure sustainable urban development.
“MCG’s focus is on delivering better citizen services through strong infrastructure and technology-based governance. Systems such as SCADA and infrastructure mapping will help make civic services smarter, more transparent and more effective,” Dahiya said.
The corporation also reviewed progress on infrastructure mapping of sewerage, water supply, drainage networks, roads and footpaths. Officials said the initiative would support better planning and faster resolution of civic issues while helping Gurugram evolve into a cleaner, safer and more sustainable city.
