Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini faced protests from Congress workers in Gurugram on Friday when demonstrators waved black flags and raised slogans against his convoy while he was travelling to Gurugram University for an interaction programme with young entrepreneurs.
The protest took place shortly after the Chief Minister attended the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee meeting at the Civil Lines Swatantrata Senani Zila Parishad Hall.
As his convoy moved towards Gurugram University for the “Gen-H Choupal” programme, more than 15 Congress workers led by Gurugram Rural District Congress President Vardhan Yadav and Gurugram Urban District Congress President Pankaj Dawar allegedly pulled out black cloths hidden in their pockets and waved them at the convoy.
Police personnel accompanying the Chief Minister’s convoy rushed to stop the protesters and prevent them from getting closer to the route.
Speaking after the protest, Vardhan Yadav said the demonstration was aimed at highlighting issues faced by students of Gurugram University. He alleged that first-year students were still awaiting their examination results and claimed that the university lacked adequate infrastructure and basic facilities.
“The government is trying to engage with the youth, but students at Gurugram University are facing serious issues. There is no proper transportation facility for local and rural students to reach the university, and the infrastructure remains inadequate,” Yadav said.
He further urged the Chief Minister to address concerns related to governance in Gurugram, including alleged irregularities in demolition drives and anti-encroachment actions. Referring to the protest, Yadav said Congress workers wanted to ensure that the voices of students and residents reached the Chief Minister.
The incident has also triggered concerns over security arrangements during the Chief Minister’s visit. Sources indicated that the matter has been reported to the Home Department, with questions being raised over how protesters managed to reach close to the VIP route despite the presence of police and intelligence personnel.
Officials are likely to review the security arrangements, as protesters reaching close to the Chief Minister’s convoy is being viewed as a significant lapse in ground-level coordination and intelligence assessment.
CM Attends Grievance Meeting, Public Programmes

chaired the monthly meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee, where 17 complaints related to the district were taken up for hearing.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister proceeded to Gurugram University to participate in an interaction programme with young entrepreneurs and students.
