Gurugram : In a significant milestone for the real estate regulatory framework, the Real Estate Regulatory Authority Gurugram (RERA) has successfully cleared all pending complaints up to the year 2024, marking a major boost for homebuyers awaiting justice.
According to an official statement, the authority has disposed of all 2,174 cases that were pending as of March 31, 2025. As a result, all cases currently under adjudication now belong to 2025 and onwards.
The year-wise backlog included 15 cases from 2018, 28 from 2019, 10 from 2020, 74 from 2021, 333 from 2022, 654 from 2023, and a significant 1,060 cases from 2024—all of which have now been resolved.
RERA Gurugram stated that while disposing of complaints, it strictly adheres to the principles of natural justice and the rule of law. The Authority has also set a new target to reduce the average disposal time from the current 12–15 months to a faster 6–9 months.
In 2025 alone, the authority adjudicated 5,024 complaints, granting reliefs such as refunds or delayed possession charges (DPC), depending on the merits of individual cases, as per provisions under Section 18 of the RERA Act.
Despite facing a significant backlog in previous years, RERA Gurugram has emerged as a top performer in complaint resolution across the country. As per data available on the website of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Gurugram leads in disposal efficiency among major RERA bodies.
Comparative data shows that Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority has disposed of 86.71% of its registered complaints, while Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority stands at 82.03%. Similarly, Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority has achieved 81.54% disposal.
In contrast, RERA Gurugram has recorded an impressive disposal rate of approximately 94%, making it the highest in the country in terms of percentage of complaints resolved, despite being the third-highest in total complaints registered.
The authority reiterated its commitment to further improving efficiency and ensuring faster, transparent, and effective redressal of grievances for homebuyers.
With this achievement, RERA Gurugram aims to set a benchmark for other regulatory bodies and strengthen confidence among real estate investors and buyers in the region.
