Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has intensified its efforts to recover pending property tax dues by initiating strict enforcement action against defaulters.
As part of this drive, the MCG’s Zone-1 team on Tuesday sealed four properties for non-payment of property tax, with outstanding dues exceeding Rs 89 lakh.
The sealing action was carried out under the supervision of Tax Inspector Pankaj Saluja along with his team. The sealed properties are located in Pace City-2 in Sector-37, Udyog Vihar Phase-III, and Sector-35. According to officials, the respective outstanding property tax amounts on these properties are Rs 35,29,615, Rs 16,78,765, Rs 16,73,722, and Rs 20,85,451.
MCG officials stated that repeated notices had already been issued to the concerned property owners, asking them to clear their outstanding dues within the stipulated time period. However, as the defaulters failed to comply despite reminders, the corporation was left with no option but to proceed with sealing the properties in accordance with municipal rules.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasized that property tax is one of the primary sources of revenue for the Municipal Corporation and plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of the city.
“Funds collected through property tax are utilized for improving essential civic services such as cleanliness, road infrastructure, water supply, street lighting, and other public amenities,” he said.
He further warned that the corporation would continue to take stringent action against property tax defaulters across all zones of the city. The Commissioner appealed to all property owners to deposit their property tax on time to avoid penal action.
He added that voluntary payment of dues would help citizens avoid sealing and other legal measures, but negligence or deliberate non-payment would invite strict action as per law.
MCG officials also confirmed that similar verification drives and sealing operations will be intensified in other zones in the coming days to ensure better tax compliance and strengthen the corporation’s revenue base.
