Sewerage and Monsoon management works reviewed, 70% projects completed

Gurugram Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of sewerage management and monsoon preparedness works across the city. The meeting focused on providing permanent solutions to sewer overflow issues and preventing waterlogging during the upcoming monsoon season.

Officials informed that desilting work using bucket machines, super suckers, and jetting machines is being carried out at dozens of identified vulnerable locations in the municipal area. Several wards have already witnessed permanent resolution of sewer overflow problems, while remaining works have been directed to be completed within the stipulated timeline.

At the time of formation of the Sewerage Management Cell (SMC), 40 major sewerage problem locations were identified in Gurugram. Work was initiated at all these sites with a target completion date of April 2026. So far, nearly 70 percent of the work has been completed, and the remaining 30 percent is expected to be finished on time.

Key projects include new sewer lines, water supply pipelines, road construction, and master sewer line works in areas such as Saraswati Enclave, Shakti Park, Sector-10, Khandsa, and Pataudi Road. In Indira Colony, Tigra (Ward-14), technical issues related to a petroleum pipeline are being addressed through coordination and NOC processes with concerned agencies.

Coordination with Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has helped resolve multiple issues in wards including Narsinghpur, Mohammadpur Jharsa, Begumpur Khatola, Ghata, Ullawas, Bandhwadi, and Baharampur. Desilting work is largely complete, and infrastructure upgrades such as sump wells, pipelines, and a proposed 2 MLD STP are in progress.

The Monsoon Management Cell also presented a detailed action draft covering drainage connectivity, electrification, pond channelisation, rainwater harvesting repairs, drain cleaning, park leveling, and micro-STP operations. A total of 159 waterlogging-prone locations have been identified, with a target to resolve all issues before the monsoon.

Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya directed officials to ensure timely completion of all approved works with strict quality control, emphasizing continuous field-level monitoring to minimize inconvenience to citizens.
