Gurugram : The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has intensified its enforcement drive against property tax defaulters, sealing six properties in Zone-2 in a single day as part of its ongoing campaign to boost revenue and ensure compliance.
Notably, the action also included a well-known private school, underlining the corporation’s zero-tolerance approach towards tax defaults.
The sealing operation was carried out on Tuesday by a team led by Zonal Taxation Officer Pankaj Kumar. Among the properties sealed were a property owned by Paras Developers in Sector 106 and Prime Scholars School located in Sector 102. According to MCG officials, these properties had accumulated significant outstanding dues and failed to respond positively despite repeated notices issued by the corporation.
The total outstanding property tax amount on the six sealed properties stands at approximately ₹74.95 lakh. Officials stated that multiple opportunities were provided to the defaulters to clear their dues, but persistent non-compliance compelled the corporation to take action in accordance with municipal rules.
The strict measures have started yielding results, particularly in Zone-2, where the impact of continuous notices and enforcement actions has encouraged several defaulters to come forward. In recent days, property owners in the zone have deposited nearly ₹1.16 crore towards pending property tax, significantly contributing to the civic body’s revenue.
MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasized that property tax is a crucial source of income for the corporation, enabling it to fund essential civic services, infrastructure development, and urban amenities. He warned that any negligence in tax payment would not be tolerated and that enforcement drives would continue without discrimination.
The Commissioner appealed to all property owners to pay their property tax on time to avoid penal action. He also confirmed that similar intensive drives will be conducted in other zones of Gurugram in the coming days, with special focus on major defaulters.
