Gurugram: In a significant move to promote electric vehicles and make the city cleaner and pollution-free, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) for the development of EV charging infrastructure in the city.
Under the MoU, a total of 20 electric vehicle charging stations will be installed across Gurugram. These charging stations will be set up at major markets and community centres to ensure easy access for the general public and EV users.
According to officials of the Municipal Corporation, the entire cost of the project will be borne by CESL. This includes providing electricity connections, installation of EV chargers, procurement of required equipment, and the complete operation and maintenance of the charging stations.
The initiative is expected to provide convenience to electric vehicle users while encouraging a wider adoption of EVs in the city. Civic officials said the project would play a crucial role in promoting green mobility in Gurugram.
With increased use of electric vehicles, the city is likely to witness savings in fossil fuel consumption along with a significant reduction in air pollution. The initiative is seen as an important step towards developing Gurugram as a clean, environmentally friendly, and future-ready city.
MCG has also appealed to citizens to adopt electric vehicles and actively support this initiative to contribute towards building a pollution-free Gurugram.
