Gurugram : A comprehensive review meeting of the Sewerage Management Cell was held under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya to assess progress on the ambitious “Critical S-40 Points” initiative aimed at resolving major sewerage and drainage issues across Gurugram.
The campaign, launched by the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), has reported significant progress, with most identified problem areas either fully resolved or nearing completion.
Officials informed that in Ward-9’s Saraswati Enclave, new sewer lines, water supply pipelines and road-related works have been completed. The master sewer line along Pataudi Road has also been laid, improving drainage in the locality. In Ward-17’s Mohammadpur Jharsa, desilting work has been completed after heavy silt accumulation was found in adequately sized sewer lines. Similarly, large-diameter pipelines at Noorpur Mor and Badshahpur in Ward-18 were cleaned using super sucker machines, providing relief to residents.
In Prempuri (Ward-13), sewer cleaning was carried out at a cost of approximately Rs 17 lakh, while Ullawas village (Ward-20) is witnessing regular jetting and machine-based cleaning to address periodic blockages. At Bandhwari village, construction of a sump well has improved sewage flow to the treatment plant, resolving long-pending issues caused by incomplete network connectivity.
Sewer systems in Sectors 42 and 43 have also been streamlined. In Sector-43, the line has been connected to the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority master line using trenchless technology, ensuring smoother operations.
Rajendra Park, identified as a low-lying and sensitive zone prone to sewer overflow, is undergoing extensive upgrades, including desilting of main lines, rehabilitation of damaged pipelines and a proposed 1200 mm sewer line. Officials stated that once completed, overflow issues will be permanently resolved.
Several major works—including trunk sewer replacement in Jharsa village, desilting in Islamapur Colony and Sector-38, and upgrades in Rajiv Nagar and Prem Nagar—are targeted for completion by April 30, 2026. Additional works in Sector-10, Khandsa village and other areas are scheduled for completion by May 2026.
Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasized that the S-40 initiative marks a decisive step toward long-term improvement of the city’s sewerage and drainage infrastructure, ensuring better urban services for residents.
