Gurugram: In a major push to strengthen civic infrastructure, the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), chaired by Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra, has approved 25 key development projects worth nearly Rs 142 crore. The projects aim to improve basic amenities across urban wards and adjoining rural areas of the city.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, F&CC members Councillors Anoop Singh and Sunder Singh, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, Joint Commissioner Dr Naresh Kumar, and concerned executive engineers. Detailed discussions were held on proposals related to strengthening Gurugram’s core infrastructure.
The approved projects primarily focus on sewerage systems, road construction and reconstruction, storm water drainage, drinking water supply, street lighting and sanitation infrastructure. Considering long-standing sewer problems in densely populated areas, the committee approved rehabilitation and strengthening of old 600 mm diameter sewer lines. This work will be undertaken in Ward-27, Civil Lines, Sadar Bazaar and Jacobpura, areas that have frequently faced sewer overflow issues.
To tackle waterlogging, especially during the monsoon season, new storm water drainage systems and disposal networks have been sanctioned for Sector-9, Sector-9A and other waterlogging-prone localities. These measures are expected to significantly reduce flooding and improve urban resilience.
Several proposals for construction and reconstruction of RMC roads were also cleared. Roads in Dhanwapur Road, Madanpuri, Sector-46, South City-1, Sector-15 Part-2 and Sector-18 will be strengthened and re-carpeted to ensure smoother traffic flow. Additionally, reconstruction of the RMC road from Rajendra Park to Dhanwapur Chowk has been approved.
Special emphasis was laid on the development of rural and newly developed areas within the MCG limits. Sewer networks, drinking water pipelines, internal roads and drainage infrastructure will be upgraded in Dhanakot, Daulatabad, Dhumasur, Maidawas and New Palam Vihar Colony.
Mayor Raj Rani Malhotra said the Municipal Corporation is committed to Gurugram’s holistic development. “These projects are directly linked to citizens’ basic needs. Strengthening sewerage, roads, drainage and water supply will provide major relief to residents. All works will be completed with quality and within the stipulated timeline,” she said.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that strict instructions have been issued for timely and transparent execution. “Technical quality, transparency and regular monitoring will be ensured. After completion, residents in problem-hit areas will see visible improvement,” he added.
