Gurugram gears up for monsoon: MCG launches early action plan to tackle waterlogging hotspots

Gurugram: With the monsoon season approaching, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has stepped up its preparedness to effectively tackle waterlogging across the city.

A comprehensive action plan is already in motion, focusing on early identification of vulnerable areas and preventive measures.

To minimize disruption during heavy rains, the civic body has initiated the process of identifying waterlogging-prone hotspots and conducting detailed safety audits. In a collaborative approach, NGOs have also been roped in to assist the corporation in ground-level assessments.

As part of the plan, NGO representatives will visit different parts of the city and coordinate with local residents, municipal councillors, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). The aim is to prepare a detailed database of flood-prone locations, enabling authorities to implement targeted solutions well before the onset of monsoon.

Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasized that the primary objective this year is to provide maximum relief to citizens from waterlogging issues. He has directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely action.

Engineering and sanitation teams have already been deployed on the ground to begin cleaning and repairing drainage systems, along with other essential arrangements at identified locations.

Officials have been instructed to complete these works within stipulated timelines to avoid last-minute challenges during peak rainfall.

The MCG’s proactive approach is expected to significantly reduce waterlogging incidents and improve overall urban resilience during the upcoming monsoon season.
