Gurugram: Following the implementation of Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), the Gurugram district administration has issued an important advisory for private institutions and corporate offices to curb air pollution.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar informed that under CAQM Order No. 120017/27/GRAP/2021/CAQM dated December 13, 2025, NCR state governments and the Government of NCT of Delhi have been directed to take necessary decisions to ensure reduced physical attendance in offices.
As per the order, public offices, urban local bodies, and private establishments are advised to function with only 50 percent staff capacity, while the remaining employees should be allowed to work from home.
In line with these directions, the Gurugram district administration has advised all private institutions and corporate offices operating in the district to implement work-from-home arrangements for their employees starting December 22, 2025, until further orders. The advisory aims to minimize vehicular movement and reduce overall pollution levels during the period of severe air quality.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the decision has been taken in the larger public interest to ensure effective implementation of GRAP measures and to improve the deteriorating air quality in the region. He urged all organizations to strictly comply with the advisory and extend full cooperation to the district administration.
Officials stated that reduced commuting and lower on-road traffic can significantly contribute to controlling emissions during critical pollution episodes. The administration will closely monitor compliance with GRAP guidelines and may take further action if required.
The Gurugram administration has also appealed to residents to avoid unnecessary travel, use public transport where possible, and follow all advisories issued from time to time to collectively combat air pollution.
Stage-IV of GRAP is enforced when air quality reaches the “Severe” category, triggering stringent measures across sectors. Authorities reiterated that public cooperation is essential to ensure the success of these emergency pollution control measures in Gurugram and the larger Delhi-NCR region.
