Gurugram: In a significant step towards improving urban road infrastructure, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has constituted a dedicated Road Development Cell (RDC) to ensure better planning, effective execution, strict monitoring, and time-bound redressal of road-related complaints across the city. The newly formed cell has come into effect immediately.
As per orders issued by Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, the RDC will closely track the progress, quality standards, and financial status of ongoing road projects. The initiative aims to deliver safer and better road infrastructure to residents while enhancing transparency and accountability in execution.
The Road Development Cell will function under the chairmanship of the Commissioner and include senior administrative and technical officials.
A key mandate of the RDC is the regular review of major road projects, including all works costing Rs 25 lakh and above. The cell will monitor model road projects, assess adherence to timelines, evaluate quality benchmarks, and track financial progress to ensure projects are completed as per approved standards.
To address citizens’ grievances efficiently, the RDC will monitor complaints received through multiple platforms, including the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) portal, the MCG mobile app, and the “Mhari Sadak” platform on priority. The objective is to ensure coordinated and swift resolution without requiring residents to file repeated complaints.
The cell will also coordinate with key agencies such as GMDA, HSVP, PWD, traffic police, and other utility departments to streamline execution and traffic management issues.
According to officials, the formation of the RDC marks a major reform in strengthening road governance in Gurugram, promising improved oversight, faster grievance redressal, and enhanced transparency in infrastructure development.
